Today nine members took the Rescue Engine and Utility to Blatt and Tillet Truck and Trailer Repair to perform several vehicle rescue training scenarios. Crews removed 12 doors, 3 roofs, and lifted 2 dashboards to allow plenty of tool time and repetitions for all members with vehicles in various orientations. Huge thank you to Blatt and Tillet for providing the vehicles and letting us use the property!

Last evening the Palmyra Volunteers and mutual aid were dispatched for a reported multiple dwelling fire in the Borough. The Wagon arrived, established their own hydrant, located, and quickly extinguished a contents fire in the basement. The box was shortly thereafter held to Company 1. This is yet another instance of property and potentially lives being saved by a working smoke detector providing early notification of a fire.

Mid this afternoon, the Palmyra Volunteers and surrounding companies were alerted for a reported building fire in the Township. The Wagon arrived within 5 minutes from dispatch to find an outbuilding fully involved. After some initial aisstance from Companies 2 and 48, the box was held to Company 1. Thank you to the mutual aid companies for your response and assistance.

Members made the trip to Harrisburg Area Community College to celebrate the graduation of our very own, Zachary Yingst, from the 73rd Fire Academy. He will begin his career with the York City Department of Fire Rescue Services next week. Congratulations and have a great and safe career!

Around 0100hrs yesterday morning the Palmyra Volunteers and surrounding mutual aid agencies responded to and quickly extinguished a working basement fire in the Township. We’d like to use this incident as a reminder of the importance of having working smoke detectors in your home as the homeowner was able to be alerted in their sleep and safely evacuate.
