Good Sunday evening, we just wanted to take a moment to share a friendly reminder that this dumpster area behind our fire station is not for public use. It is shared between the fire station, the police department, and Borough offices so as you may imagine, we need all the dumpster space we can get. There have been some recent instances of people dumping trash and other large household and automotive items, causing issues for us as well as the trash collectors. Please avoid publicly dumping here and remember you can always take your large items to the county refuse center πŸ™‚ Thank You! ... See MoreSee Less

Before noon yesterday the Palmyra Volunteers, as well as numerous other agencies and technical rescue teams, were dispatched to assist Annville Cleona Fire Department at the scene of a silo collapse with one person trapped. The Tower, Rescue Engine, and Utility responded. Upon arrival, crews worked side by side to try to locate the trapped individual, however, once found it was unfortunately discovered that individual had perished. Personnel continued working into the night to ensure a safe recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with affected friends and family.

We would like to thank Middletown Volunteer Fire Department and Swatara Fire-Rescue for providing a rescue company transfer to protect the region while crews worked for over 8 hours. Wagon 1 was staffed as well and these companies handled 4 other unrelated incidents.

Also, thank you to Eric Rickenbach and Duane Linebach RescueTechs, LLC for providing their experience and expertise as it relates to silo incidents.
